TubeTilla Pro: YouTube Downloader

This free program lets you convert YouTube videos into playable file formats. Though you’re limited to downloading videos from only the popular video sharing Web site, it performed very well for us when we put it to the test.

TubeTilla opens with a very professionally designed user interface that is intuitive. When you visit YouTube, the program doesn’t automatically pull the video URLs. Instead, you have to manually copy and paste the video URL in the proper field. But as soon as you do, the video’s name appears in the Save As field. From there, all you have to do is select the file format from a row of colorful command buttons. We opted to first convert our YouTube video file to the WMV format. The program quickly converted our file and the file successfully played using Windows Media Player. For our second run, we opted to convert the video file to an MP3 format. Again, the program quickly converted the file and we were able to play it on our iPod. The program’s other menu links took us to an online FLV player and a site for finding music downloads.

In terms of help, the program’s Support page was unavailable, but the Tutorials link took us to the publisher’s Web site where we were able to watch several video tutorials.
